Information on Entries and Fees for Clubs and Competitors

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR CLUBS AND COMPETITORS

ENTRIES AND FEES Senior events £6 per rowing seat (coxed four = £24, eight = £48 )

Junior Events £3 per rowing seat (except ARA day-tickets where appropriate)

Entries on standard ARA entry forms MUST be accompanied by the appropriate entry fees. The ARA day ticket fee currently £15 per day MUST be included if there is no current ARA registration number provided on the entry form.

Fax entries on ARA entry forms or E-mail accepted, but the associated cheque must arrive by closing date.

Cheques, (including ARA day ticket fees) to be made payable to DURHAM REGATTA.

Junior & Senior entries, Postal, Fax or by Hand close 10.00am Saturday JUNE 7TH 2003

Late entries or telephone entries not accepted

Please provide rapid contact phone/fax numbers and address.

Durham City area clubs, especially College clubs can be delivered by hand for on the spot checking on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th of June between 6pm and 9pm at Durham ARC Club House fao. Mr R Mortimer.

DOUBLE ENTRIES: will be accepted as below. The committee cannot guarantee rest times – crews are responsible for ensuring they are at the start at the stated time.

MEN & WOMEN may row in any two events in Open and Senior 1
MEN may enter Senior 2 eights and Senior 2 Fours on Sunday
MEN may enter Senior 3 eights and Senior 3 fours
WOMEN may enter senior 2 eights and Senior 2 Fours on Saturday, and open eights and Senior 2 fours on Sunday
WOMEN may enter senior 3 Eights and senior 3 Fours on Sunday
JUNIORS may not enter Senior events on the same day, but may enter two Junior events:
One am (8.30 – 12.30 approx) and one pm (13.30 – 18.00)

These double entry rules also apply to coxswains.

Novices and Senior IV may not double enter 8+, or 4+ or 1x or be double booked into higher class boats on same day.

Clubs must submit a SUMMARY FORM showing double entries of crews, coxes and boats.


Junior Events: A minimum of 3 entries from two different clubs are required for an event to be held. If insufficient entries are received, the entries will be placed in the next age group for the class of boat unless an alternative is clearly stated. The Entries Secretary will endeavour to contact Club Secretaries and Teachers i/c of Rowing to resolve any difficulties – please provide quick phone / fax , preferably daytime.


CHANGE OF STATUS: clubs should be aware that the draw for this years Regatta takes place on June 8th. Crews who change status on Saturday 7th and inform the Entries Secretary before 8.00pm on Saturday 7th will be entered in the next highest status event.

Novice & Senior 4 winners (of qualifying events – 4 to race) in mens & womens 4+, 8+ and 1x on the first day of Durham Regatta are automatically entered in Senior 4 or 3 as appropriate on the 2nd day.


EQUIPMENT SHARING No allowance can be made in the Timetable for the sharing of Boats and Oars. Each crew and sculler is responsible for being at the start at the publicised time. Races will be started without reference to absentees

BOATS: All events in fine boats.

COXES: Will be weighed each day before their first race and should provide appropriate dead weight if necessary.

SAFETY: The ARA Water Safety Code will be strictly enforced. Clubs should ensure all crews are familiar with the code.

Crews whose coxes have no buoyancy aid will not be allowed to start (Bumbags Not Permitted). Boat safety is the responsibility of the individual clubs and crews but the regatta retains the right for Safety Officers or Regatta Umpires to check boats at any time during the regatta. No exemptions can be made to this code.

DRAW: Will take place at 15 Glebeside, Witton Gilbert at 10.00am on Sunday June 8th. June.

PRIZE GIVING: will take place at Durham Town Hall on Sunday 15th June commencing 8.00pm.
